Recently we had a King Water Saver fitted to our motorhome and have been delighted with its performance. We have smallish tanks so saving fresh water was a priority for us. This unit does this very effectively and efficiently. The operation is simple. When the hot tap is turned on there is now no great rush of cold water that had been sitting in the pipes and which could easily be lost to the grey tank. Rather there is a small flow of cold water before the hot comes through at the temperature you have chosen. The remaining cold water in the pipe is returned to the fresh tank. When the sensor senses the water in the pipe is at the set temperature the valve opens and the hot water is now directed into the required unit. The initial cold water is not wasted but in the sink or the hand basin it helps cool the water to an acceptable working temperature.

While we now have the gas hot water on all the time, to date we have noticed no significant increase in gas consumption. Previously, we would heat the water when we wanted it in quantity, say for showers, or just boil the kettle otherwise. We now know there is hot water when we want it and that we are not wasting precious fresh water waiting for the hot to arrive.

Try a small test. Measure the amount of cold water that arrives in your sink before the hot arrives. You too could save most of this amount when you turn the hot tap on. The greater the distance between the tap and the hot water cylinder, or califont, obviously the more you will save.

We both suggest that you consider the installation of a King Water Saver in your RV. We would recommend it.

We read with interest the article by Bob & Tricia Newby in the last Canterbury Issue No. 117. We would like to say that we thoroughly agree with all their points made about the King Water Saver.

Changing from a Bus, where we had big water tanks, to the Van with smaller tanks, we were very aware of having a lot less to play with and any way to save was a great help.We found where we used fill a kettle with cold water each morning, while running the tap to get the first hot water, we now also, like Bob & Trish, only have the first tiny bit of cold, and then it is hot.

Our first mistake, while travelling up the North Island, with it newly installed, was to keep switching off the hot water heater, as we were used to doing this. One phone call to Chris (Saveh2o Ltd), reminded us that the water heater must be switched on all the time to work, and all our problems were over. We have had 7 weeks of perfect use while on the road.

We also, like Bob & Trish, don’t notice any difference in gas bottle use and it is really nice to have hot water all the time in the kitchen sink.

We also would recommend you consider the King Water Saver in your vehicle.
